Located in a small town in New Hampshire, USA they are your typical New Englanders; simple, laid back, snowed in and black fly bitten. They're a community of people that have worked together for years and feel more like a family than co-workers.
They feel caring for a family extends beyond the company itself and into the larger community. They are major contributors to the art and theatre, and are one of the largest supporters of a local drug alcohol treament centre. They also support a neighbouring retreat that cares for the mentally ill. In 2005, they began contributing to a traumatic brain injury rehabilitation centre in New Hampshire. The Mountain® t-shirts are produced not only with people in mind, but with the enivornment as well. All t-shirts are hand-dyed with water based inks on 100% cotton (organic when possible).
The Mountain® products are Oekotex 100% certified (the highest qualification worldwide), This guarantees the shirts are free of chemicals harmful to your body.
Tree Free ® is a US manufacturer of greeting cards, note cards and gift bags using no trees to produce their products. The use of their products are 100% tree free, using sustainable products such as the kenaf plant, bamboo, sugar cane and recycled materials. Their earth-friendly cards use no chlorine or harmful chemicals. Tree Free's paper mills are working towards a zero carbon footprint, purchasing energy generated from wind, Hydroelectric, biomass and geothermal sources. Sweetpaper cards and envelopes are made from sugar cane bagasse. Sugar cane bagasse is a waste product of the sugar refining industry; it is the fibrous material remianing in sugar cane after the sugar is removed. By using this waste product as paper pulp, Tree Free are putting to good use a product which would otherwise be landfilled! Sweetpaper is processed elemental chlorine free and releases no harmful dioxin into the environment.
Leanin’ Tree greeting cards have been an American tradition since 1949. That’s when Ed Trumble, founder and Chairman, started selling Christmas cards through the mail to western farmers and ranchers.
Leanin’ Tree is about transforming a simple piece of paper into something magnificent that brightens your day, lifts your heart, or makes you smile. All in all, it’s pretty straightforward and "down to earth". And that’s the way they like it. Leanin’ Tree is also down to earth about the earth. Like most companies, they use precious resources to bring their products to you. To minimize this impact they print all our cards and envelopes on recycled paper. They've recycled their printing scrap and office paper for years. They also recycle soda cans, phonebooks, fluorescent light bulbs, various kinds of steel, aluminum, and printing plates, and they support a public service tree planting program that plants two trees for every one they use in their promotional materials.
They're also very proud to have been awarded Boulder’s PACE Award (Partners for a Clean Environment) for the ongoing efforts they make to reduce our impact on the environment. |
